GDPR survey responsibilities

How do you ensure your surveys are GDPR adherent?

GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation) officially came into force on May 25th, 2018, and redefined how organizations deal with data integrity. As a result, if you’re collecting, handling, and/or processing personal data of EU subjects, you need to ensure you take GDPR into account and comply with its provisions.

At Surveypal, we have taken extensive steps to achieve compliance by meeting our GDPR obligations and are committed to supporting, also, our users’ endeavors to fulfill their GDPR responsibilities. That is why we are making continuous improvements to assist our customers to manage their survey data in accordance with privacy and security regulations.

How does Surveypal help me align with GDPR legal provisions for surveys?

GDPR guidelines affect your surveys when you use them to collect personally identifiable information. In order to empower you to make the most of your survey data, we have built into our platform a set of functionalities that enable you to handle that data in accordance with GDPR:

  • automatic survey response deletion
  • automatic survey response anonymization
  • data search by respondent

Let’s take a closer look at those functionalities.

Automatic response/data anonymization

By enabling the feature, you can automatically anonymize a particular response or all responses to a survey. This prevents you from being able to identify the survey respondent. As a result, if you so wish, you can choose to conduct all your Surveypal surveys anonymously.

Automatic response/data deletion

GDPR requires that you don’t retain personal data longer than necessary. This means that you must delete the data you no longer need. Surveypal allows you to automatically trigger the deletion of survey responses after a certain timeframe.

By setting data deletion rules you can control the removal of respondent data in your Surveypal surveys, regardless of the status of the surveys. This might prove particularly useful when you’re running the same survey for long periods of time and you have no use for data that is no longer relevant.

Data search by respondent

According to GDPR, your survey respondents have the “right to rectification” and the “right to erasure (right to be forgotten)” in addition to the “right to be informed”. This functionality lets you search your survey data by name, email, or phone number, easily locate all the personal information you have in your register about a respondent and delete it (if asked to do so).
